Cone Calibrations
The calibration of our cones are carried out regularly to ensure the ongoing reliability of the information obtained during testing. Calibrations are also carried out when the baseline (zero load) drift exceeds the standard or when the cone has been overloaded or repaired.
When cones are returned to the manufacturer (Geomil Equipment) for servicing or repair, or new cones are purchased, high precision calibrations are carried out in the Geomil lab to ensure the cones comply with EN ISO 22476-1 class 1 standards.
All local calibrations are completed by Calwest Services, a NATA accredited calibration lab, and a NATA endorsed calibration certificate is issued for each cone channel – tip resistance (qc), friction sleeve (fs) and pore pressure (u). The cones must comply with the requirements according to Australian Standard AS 2193-2005 – Class A or they are returned to Geomil for repair.
Project specific calibration requirements can be accommodated but may require advanced notice.
