Seismic CPT(u)
The Seismic CPT acquisition is conducted with seismic module attached to a CPT(u) cone allowing simultaneous acquisition of CPT(u) data and seismic data. It is designed such that the seismic sensor records the soil profile’s response to low strain seismic disturbances. Seismic CPT is conducted using an accelerometer (1Hz – 10Hz) for excellent definition of the frequency spectrum of the recorded signal.
For quality assessment and proper data analysis, the frequency filtering of data is done after acquisition and not during the recording. The measured values are transferred to the data acquisition system as voltage signals by means of a cable.
A seismic source (e.g. hammer beam) is used to generate dominant S waves. The S waves are created by applying a hammer blow laterally to the end of the hammer beam fixed to the CPT rig. The hammer beam generates excellent polarised S waves.
