Electronic Vane Shear Tester

Used to estimate the undrained shear strength of saturated clays and tailings, our field vane tester is the Geomil GVT-100, a sophisticated PLC controlled device with a high precision torque sensor with very accurate torque and rotational speed measurement.  The control unit has a fully adjustable rotation speed to a maximum of 15° per second, while the sampling rate can also be adjusted to the clients needs.

The vane is pushed to the required test depth where an undrained shear test is completed.  Then the client has the option of a remould test whereby the vane is set for 5 revolutions at maximum speed. Once the 5 revolutions are completed the control unit returns to the original testing speed and a residual shear strength test is completed.

All data recorded is presented on the same plot and raw data is available if required.
